Reason Space is a Tokyo-based practice devoted to application audits of risk control monitoring applications.
Why we exist
Risk control monitoring applications accumulate rules, owners, and exceptions over years. Boards and regulators ask whether those applications still catch what matters. Reason Space was formed in Tokyo to answer that question with fieldwork — configuration review, operator walkthroughs, and sample testing — rather than with product comparisons.
Origin
The practice grew from second-line and internal audit work where monitoring tools were treated as proof of control simply because they existed. We saw inventories that did not match processes, alerts that never fired, and exception queues that aged without escalation. Application audit of risk control monitoring applications became the whole focus: one subject, examined carefully.
How we work
We name the applications and control families in scope before fieldwork begins. Findings are written so a control owner can act and an audit committee can judge residual exposure. We decline engagements that ask us to endorse a vendor or to redesign monitoring software.
People
Engagements are led by practitioners who have examined monitoring applications in regulated and industrial settings in Japan. Associates support sampling, evidence packaging, and translation of interview notes. You always have a named lead, not a rotating account desk.

Japan context
Our office is at 2-15-1 Konan, Minato-ku, Tokyo. Much of the fieldwork happens on client sites or over secured remote sessions with Japanese and English documentation. We schedule around committee calendars common to Tokyo headquarters and regional branches.
